The Georgi Galabov Foundation was set up on 4th June 2014. The idea came about shortly after his death as a natural continuation of the mission and work of the Accordionist Club – the “swan song” in the life of the great artist and pedagogue
His daughter, Tatyana Yoncheva, his wife, Lilyana Radoeva and his closest acquaintances – students, colleagues and friends – got united by the desire to realise his greatest dream:
To gain recognition for the accordion as one of the most beautiful music instruments.
To increase the level of teaching the accordion and to unite and to make the accordion schools in Bulgaria prosper. To all founders, the foundation is also a platform for promoting his pedagogical experience and social activities to the benefit of the future generations.
The goals of the Foundation are:
To promote Bulgarian original and folk music in the country and abroad.
To support young accordion players in their musical development.
To organise regularly National accordion contest with international participants for solo artists and chamber bands.
To support the development of accordion pedagogy in the country.
To encourage the creation of new accordion compositions.
To support the training and education related to music traditions.
To support the development and conservation of culture.
Activities
- Organise National Accordion Contest with international participants from 23 till 25 October 2015 for solo and chamber accordion music
- Organise a contest for accordion compositions 2016
- Concerts of prominent artists and award winners at domestic and international contests
- Seminars, discussions and workshops for accordion teachers
- Master classes for talented children accordionists
- Organise concerts
